About Duncan Building Services
Taking the opportunity to live in California, and work in construction for 10 years he then returned home to continue working locally which meant a great deal to his family.
Working under the name Duncan Builders since 1989, in 2013 it became apparent the business was expanding, so Duncan Building Services Ltd was incorporated to assume the operations of the business.
Duncan Building Services Ltd is a member of the Certified Builders Association of New Zealand.
As only qualified builders with a proven work history can become members, this means you can trust every aspect of our professional approach to your project. Safe in the knowledge you’re working with a company with proven dedication to many satisfied customers. As well as access to the protection of the Comprehensive Halo 10 Year Residential Guarantee, and the use of consumer-friendly building contracts.
We expect high standards from everyone we work with, and only employ quality sub-contractors, who share the same high standards, are proven to be reliable and friendly and have excellent workmanship. Over the years we have established a team of these competent sub-contractors.
It’s understandable that Building Projects are often stressful, and for that reason we aim to alleviate the pressure as much as possible by Project Managing the entire job. We are happy to liaise with local councils on your behalf to ensure all necessary paperwork is completed and the permits and site inspections take place in a timely manner to keep the job flowing nicely.
Since 2013 Duncan Building Services Ltd. has offered Building Services, Architectural Design and Project Management. With the services working together in house, designs can push the boundaries further and the building process can move faster as ideas and issues can easily be collaborated on between the teams.
Brian and Selena have been working together since 2013 and over this time have built a strong understanding of each other’s work styles.
This makes the build a lot easier for clients as our Team can take their dream from conception to completion in one steady process.
Clients work with the same people throughout and build a trusting relationship over the usually stressful process of building.
While keeping abreast of the latest compliance regulations, and new standards, we continue to maintain our ‘old school’ ideals of build it right the first time.
Managing Director | Certified Builder | LBP
To say building is a passion for Brian is an understatement. Watching someone’s dream become a reality provides great satisfaction.
Having completed his Apprenticeship in 1977, Brian has seen many changes within the building industry over the years and has adapted well to those changes. He regularly attends training seminars to keep abreast of new and ever-changing regulations.
When Brian isn’t helping others to achieve their dreams, he is in his garage working on his Jeep getting ready to go out on his next 4wheel drive adventure, a sport his whole family is involved in.
As a member of NZ Jeep Club, Rodney Off Road Club and The Waikato Club, Brian has been able to give back to the community by way of fundraising for many valuable organisations such as The Salvation Army, The Ahuroa Fire Brigade, Westpac Helicopter Trust, St. John’s Ambulance Service, Hibiscus Coast Hospice, as well as individual schools for their specific requirements.
Buildings, like computer systems, need meticulous planning in order to get them to ‘Go Live’ and reach Practical Completion (i.e. Lived In), and who better to make sure the planning and co-ordination of the extensive amount of materials, carpenters and sub-contractors goes to plan (weather excluded) than a guy who’s spent 25 years as a Project Manager on multi-million dollar projects.
Richard assists Brian and his Team to ensure that plans are drawn up, calculations added up, and contracts are signed up.
Richard brings his insatiable desire to understand all aspects in the building process from a lay perspective, and help convey this to the customer so that the client’s experience is as stress-free as possible.
Lisa is a perfectionist with amazing organizational skills, making her a perfect Office Administrator. She supports both the Building and Architectural sides of the Company to ensure projects run smoothly and the departments work cohesively as complex projects move between the design and building stages.
Duncan Building Services Ltd has an eclectic Team of builders and sub-contractors.
Including BCITO Apprentices, Licensed Building Practitioners, Project Managers, and Qualified Sub-Contractors, the Team brings a range of ideas and skills to each project. With more years’ experience between them then they care to mention, there’s nothing our Team can’t build.
When they’re not building client’s dream homes, they’re spending time with family and friends, volunteering in the community, participating in fitness and sports, or enjoying our beautiful beaches.
